BROKEN HEARTS
For the last year, i have been helping at Hope Chapel's Jr. High/High Youth Group called U-Turn. This is on Thursday nights, the same night as our RAVEN outreach to the hungry. i prayed on a solution to this quandry and it came to me to take youth on outreach and get them back for the worship and message portion of U-Turn. Now this does not seem enough. What is enough?
Last Saturday morning, Max, a teen i have known for years, flew out to Hawaii to live with his Aunt. He is saved, but he was not walking in it. He was broken on Thursday night. i went to Myles' baseball game and swung by youth group at 8:35pm. i prayed with him and he cried and sobbed. Friday night, Myles and i went to his house to say good-bye and to pray with the family. To help them find some forgiveness and healing. Max put on a good show at church, at youth group, then there was stealing and fighting and swearing when he was not there. He was playing a dangerous game with his salvation. There are many Max's at youth group. Jesus saves them, we pray with them, then the prince of the world is too much for them and they give in to temptations. My heart breaks for them.
They need to be out on the street serving the Lord. They need to be out of the once a week church rut and into walking out their salvation every day. These kids are almost adults, they will graduate and be in this world very soon and what will they look like? Many of them will look like any other unsaved kid on the block. Too sad.
