THE BODY

i have been thinking about the body of Christ. Not His physical body given up for us. The body of believers, the ones that truly are in the unity of faith (the moral conviction of the truthfulness of God). What does that look like? i was reading Ephesians 4:11-25. Well, we are saints, there is no lying, no being children tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine (teaching). We need to be in the word and filling our heart with it for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks (Matthew 12:34). We would be be working together toward perfection for the work of the ministry (to seek and save that which is lost- Ezekiel 34:11-12), and edification (building up, strengthening) of the body.

We as a body are walking in the light of Christ and bringing that light to the lost and dying in the world. If we are not doing that, then we are not doing what Jesus called us to do. The work of the ministry. The one Jesus left us. If we are not in the Word and walking in it, then there is no power in our walk, no power in our word, it is just works. Filthy rags Isaiah 64:6. We support each other, teach each other, rebuke and take care of each other, we are family. We are fitly joined together. We are called to keep peace and walk in love, be kind, tenderhearted, forgiving. We are also a remnant, the narrow-gaters.

"....a remnant shall be saved." Romans 9:27. Search out Romans 9:25-29.

"Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace (the divine influence of God on your heart and its reflection in your life) unto the hearers." Ephesians 4:29

My question is this. If there are "professed believers" that are not walking this way, are they liars? If they are liars and no liar will inherit the kingdom, if they die tonight will they go to hell? Can you be a liar and still think you are walking in righteousness? Does God know you?

i guess i do not understand how a person who has known the glory of God, His grace and mercy, His forgiveness and love, could ever not want to be all he can be for God. Not want to support the body. How the true fear of God (the moral dread of being displeasing to Him) could just fade away, or be pushed aside for something of no value in this world. Was it ever real? Was it ever true? i don't think so.
