GOD IS AWESOME
Lets see, in the beginning, God, together in the three persons of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost, made the heaven and earth (Genesis 1:1), and mankind(Genesis 1:26-27)....just one man and one woman, with free will, and gave them just one law or command(Genesis 2:16-17). God saw that everything was very good(Genesis 1:31). So it was perfect and there was a wonderful relationship with God, and they walked with Him in the cool of the day(Genesis 3:8), they had it made forever. Until one day the man and the woman gave in to temptation, exercised their free will in rebellion against God, and they hid from Him(Genesis 3:1-8). When they came out and talked to God, they blame shifted, taking none of the responsibility themselves(Genesis 3:12-13), and God banished them to a life of struggle, a life where sin and death reigned.
And so it was for a time. Men and women married, murdered, had illicit sex, drank too much, and just lived how they wanted, not giving much thought to God(Genesis 6:5). Enter Noah, 600 yearS old, a man who walked with God(Genesis 6:9). God had had about enough of mankind which he created(Genesis 6:13) and decided to flood the earth(Genesis 6:17).... But He saved Noah, his sons Shem, Ham and Japheth, and all their wives and some animals. Wow. One mans family is all God found righteous on the earth. They built an ark of gopher wood and were saved, everyone else died. GOD'S JUDGMENT IS RIGHTEOUS ALWAYS. Remember when your mom used to say "i brought you into the world and i can take you out!" Well, God really could.
So, the earth was repopulated beginning with Noah's family and the Lord blessed them (Genesis 8:20-9:1). Now the population grew and was of one language (Genesis 11:1), untill man decided to make a tower to the heavens and basically do what ever they want so God scattered them all over the earth and confounded their language(Genesis 11:4-9). Seems that mankind just can't seem to use their free will to please God can they? They are always seeking to please themselves.
From the beginning of time to this very day, mankind has continued to sin, do evil and turn away from God. Oh, there were times they turned to God, but they were very brief. Gods righteous judgment struck some down immediately, some not so immediate, but delayed judgment did not mean no judgment. They wandered the desert with God and still sinned, were warned by countless prophets and still sinned, were shown a way to see their sinful ways in the laws of Mosses, the commandments, and turn to God, but nothing worked. Our Biblical history is full of sin and death, of turning to and from God. Our relationship with God was broken, never to be the same.
Enter our Saviour and Lord Jesus Christ... God in the flesh as a man to live and die for us. The key to eternal salvation and our restored relationship with God. Jesus coming was foretold in the Old Testament (too many to site, look them up) and was heralded by the heavens(Luke 2:13-14). i will say this, read in the Spirit, the books of Kings about the temple David's son Solomon built, with your heart on Jesus and the temple that is now in you. The Holy of Holies. Read the books of Samuel, about King David and how God chooses, guides, chastises and blesses him while setting his people up for the eventual coming of a new David (Jesus) to bring eternal salvation. Jesus came for us. So we may choose to live forever with Him in his kingdom. God knew the only way to salvage his children, his creation, was to come himself and make atonement for us. There was no other way. We certainly proved we could not do it ourselves. In His coming, dying and rising again, he has given us everything back, we can now walk together with him in the cool of the day, we can hear him when he calls and we are promised eternity with him again. We have the victory over sin and death. If we choose it. AMEN...praise God.
So, why don't most of us feel victorious? The short answer is that we do not know him and what he has offered us. We are not in His word, we do not pray, we do not truly serve him. We are not really saved. God sent his Son so we might live (John 3:16). The Bible is where we learn all this, where we come to know him, we have to be in the word of God. Right now in this age, in these urgent end times, God is offering salvation from the pits of Hell and life forever with power in Him. Like it should be, like it was in the beginning. AND we must know the Holy Ghost(pneuma). When Jesus ascended unto Heaven, he left the Holy Ghost, the power in us to be able to follow Jesus, His commands, his will for our lives. God in the person of the Holy Ghost, is in us if we are saved and ask for him. He is the comforter, the one who will lead us to all truth (Jesus), teach us all things. (John 14:26) This is powerful. To walk and pray and live in the Spirit. i wish i had words for how powerful God is. The world will not know the Spirit, only the righteous in Christ, the saved, will know Him (John 14:16-17).
Jesus left his commands about how to live the life he gave us. But first He wants to save us from the wrath to come, (1 Thessalonians 5:9)the eternal damnation. He tells us clearly how we are to be saved. We are to believe in Him(John 3:16) that he lived died and rose again, and all he says and does even now in us. (Believe means to have faith, trust, faithfulness, the moral conviction of the truthfulness of God). With a focus on eternity and enlarging the kingdom while we are here. With Godly sorrow (2 Corinthians 7:9-10) that comes from the moral dread of displeasing Him(true fear of God), we are to confess all our sin to him, admit it, tell him, cry out to Him,(1 John 1:9), and repent (turn away, change your mind)(Matthew 3:2, 4:17; Luke 13:3 & 5; Acts 3:19) from all sin, turning away from it forever. Once we have accepted His salvation and made the initial surrender of our whole lives to him, then to walk daily in a state of righteous repentance(Romans 1:17; Matthew 10:41; 1 Peter 4:18), is to continue to offer up our sin as they happen, or better yet are thought of.
How do we live? Well, he tells us that too. Do not worry for today or tomorrow or any day and only live for today(Matthew 6:34). Live for Him, taking up your cross daily, denying self and following Him(Matthew 16:24). Seek Him first and He will supply all your needs, he already knows them (Matthew 6:33). It is all in the Gospels, read them in the Spirit. He will lead you to all knowledge and truth.
The work we carry on for Christ is that of ministers of reconciliation(2 Corinthians 5:18-19), ambassadors for Christ(2 Corinthians 5:20), we are to "seek and to save that which was lost"(Luke 19:10), "preach the Gospel to all nations"(Mark 16:15), equip the saints (all the saved) for the work of the ministry(Ephesians 4:12). We want to bring others the salvation gospel of Jesus so they to can go and make more disciples. Disciples making disciples and edifying each other. Gathering for prayer, worship and fellowship. Praise God... Let' enlarge the Kingdom... Amen..
What we do for others we do because He saved us. Because of His great love for us we can be his love to others. As we are doing His work, we feed, clothe, provide drink, visit the sick, the imprisoned, the elderly. We do works of benevolence as we walk out our salvation with fear and trembling(Philippians 2:12). Day by day we do what we do where we are, all for Him, in love. The difference between our acts of benevolence and others is that we bring Jesus with us everywhere. God is in us in the person of the Holy Spirit, guiding, teaching, healing, praying. We have the Power(Acts 1:8).
With Jesus entry into the world, we have the hope and glory of eternal life. Amen, amen and amen.
