HEARKEN

i like the word hearken. i just do. All the great men and women of the Word of God hearkened unto the word of God and obeyed the word of God. They did what was right in the sight of the Lord. Amen.

They hearkened...to hear by listening..

1. To listen; to lend the ear; to attend to what is uttered; to give heed; to hear, in order to obey or comply. "Hearken, O Israel, unto the statutes and unto the judgments, which I teach you." Deuteronomy. 4:1.
2. To inquire; to seek information. "Hearken after their offense." Shakespeare.

i just finished reading 2 Kings. My 70 hour challenge can easily turn into 700 because all the Lord can show me in each word. God is so good.

All the great people in the Bible, Old and New Testament, were people that sought after God and his will for their lives and the lives of others. i just read about Hezekiah and Josiah. They hearkened unto the Lord in all things. They sought him first. This is a truth that is valuable today. When we seek the Lord first (Matthew 6:33), when we hearken unto him and hearken or heed what he says, and do it, the hand of the Lord will be upon us, he is with us always. When we do not heed, we suffer the consequences of the sin of unbelief and disobedience, of not believing what the Lord has for us is better than what we have for ourselves. Of not believing that God is wiser than ourselves. Of not believing of his love and faithfulness to us. We attack the very character of God and put ourselves in his place.

People are all abuzz about the state of the country, the election, etc... Is is any wonder that the nation is in a state of disarray? Is is any wonder that when we turn our back on our God, we will, without a doubt, suffer the consequences? Come on, the truth is that this nation is a Godless nation, letting every sin imaginable into their hearts. Lying with their lips. "This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me" (Matthew 15:18). Making idols in high places, sacrificing their sons and daughters to other gods. Adjusting to the Devil's standard for the world and not to God's. Believing doctrines of devils in the churches, teachings of tolerance of sin, love of sin, and not seeking the face of God. Adjusting to the darkness, lowering the standard of righteousness, justifying sin. Following the vain words of men and making the cross of none effect. What do we expect God to do? Wink at it? Ignore it like we ignore him? God is holy and righteous and just and pure and good and merciful and gracious, among a million other traits. He wants us to be these things too. When we choose the world there will be consequences. There are consequences and America is living them. Amen, so be it, amen.

Seek him while you still can, know him and his will for your life. Time is short. Do you really love him? Seek him in his word, in prayer, and do what he says to do. Amen.

"If my people which are called by my name shall humble themselves and pray, and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will i hear from heaven and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14
