HOLY WEEK
How is your Holy Week going? Today is Holy Thursday, the day Jesus had His last meal with His disciples, washed their feet, gave us Holy communion and was betrayed. Tomorrow is Good Friday and Jesus torturous and agonizing journey to the cross and painful crucifixion. Saturday the church waits in silence and prayer for the glorious and brilliant joy of the risen Lord celebrated on Easter Sunday. Holy Week. Yesterday, on Ash Wednesday, millions of Catholics went to church to commemorate the end of the 40 days of Lent and receive ashes on their heads. The ashes are from burned palm fronds used at last years Passion Sunday (Palm Sunday) services. They are put on their foreheads in the sign of the cross to signify the death and resurrection of Jesus. Holy Week.
Of course we all know the story and the outcome of the story. The life of Jesus is captured so beautifully in the Holy Ghost inspired writing of the Holy Bible, the Living Word. God planned it from the beginning and Jesus was obedient even unto death on a cross. For us. For sinful mankind. This time of year has always been my favorite. The beauty and sadness, the bittersweet story of Holy week is something i think the Catholics tell very well. For me, this week has always been one of growth. A time to really know my Saviour lives. This is a time to press in. To know why we are here. To lead others to Jesus and introduce them. To die to ourselves and let Jesus live in us. My heart is full and i have to go to work.....
i will finish this later. i have been trying to get out something on Holy Week all week. love you all.
