ALTRUISTIC
Altruism - unselfish interest in the welfare of others. Living your life for the benefit of others. Short and sweet. We learned in Romans that we who are saved are bond slaves unto death (doulos in greek) of Jesus Christ. We belong to Him and serve Him. Amen.
i heard Pastor Troy say, "it is not enough to be evangelistic, we must be altruistic". Jesus whole life was altruistic unto death on the cross for us. That is the ultimate. Laying down ones life for a friend. Pastor Troy also said, "when you get into the Word, the Word gets into you."
i think the two are linked. To really follow Jesus example of altruism, i must have the Word in my heart. i need to continually read and pray it, bring my life into it, wrap my life around it. The Word is life and there is no other way to live. To live for Jesus in this world means constant vigilance of what goes into our hearts, because "the mouth speaks out of the abundance of the heart" Luke 6;45. Garbage of the world in, garbage out. When God's Word goes in , the Word will come out. We will exhale it out as God breathes it into us, as natural as life itself. Rhema...the spoken word, the God breathed word (inspired-theopneustos). All scripture is God-breathed...2 Tim 3:16 Amen.
As i pray and read God's word, i consider God working in my life, i am urged to simplify. Trim the fat so to speak. What do i have that does not honor Him? What am i doing that does not honor Him? How can i honor Him more with each breath i take. As i was pretty excited about moving to Florida in March, my prayers have taken on a patience and deeper understanding of God. i am still praying for release to Florida, but while i am here, i am simplifying. Each moment needs to be lived for Him, with him and in Him. Wow, each moment, what does that look like? i do not know, but when i fall, i get back up and offer it to Him. Confess, repent, keep going...Amen. Keep the prize in mind, speak God's word (Rhema) to each person God puts in your path, bring each one you can into the Kingdom. Never loose faith (the moral conviction of the truthfulness or breath of God (thanks Pastor Alex)), never lose hope, never give up. Amen. God help me.
