WHAT DOES THAT MEAN
i am moved in my heart. i kinda said it yesterday, but it hit me more powerfully today after our Bible Study. We all must know the meaning of God's words. i am speaking to believers now. i am myself, just hitting the tip of the iceberg of God's word. i know there is an eternity of life giving knowledge and wisdom in the pages and i will never even know a fraction before our God calls me home. But i do know God uses His word to guide my life, such as it is now, and ever will be, till he calls me home, or he comes back. All i am is because of Him and who i am is who i am in Him. i pray each day for the Holy Spirit to do a new work in me and order my steps in His ways. i pray i am not displeasing to Him in any way. i love God with all my heart and above all else. Truly, Jesus died for me, and i do not take that lightly, the very least i can do for Him is live for Him and get to know Him in His word. Amen.
So here is a great example of what i am talking about. Today we talked about Romans 8:1: "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit."
Condemnation vs Conviction. One gives life and one leads to death. One leads to sanctification and one leads to guilt and shame. Do you know which is which?
Condemnation=(Greek)katakrima=a damnatory sentence, to give judgment against, to judge worthy of punishment. Condemnation is increased by impenitence, unbelief, pride, hypocrisy. Condemnation brings shame and guilt. It is when we are living in sin, unrighteousness, walking in the sin nature. Any sin, you pick it, however it manifests in our life, satisfying the lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, pride of life, whatever it is, when we habitually walk in it, we are condemned to eternal life in Hell if we die in it. There is the righteous judgment of God for us to deal with. As long as we choose to live in sin, we live in condemnation caused by the offense of Adam. Unbelievers, walking in the flesh, conformed to the ways of the world and living for the prince of the world, Satan, remain under condemnation. We have eyes that do not see and ears that do not hear (Ezekiel 12:2), we do not know Jesus as our Saviour. Condemnation points to Hell and eternal damnation.
No believer walks in condemnation.
Conviction on the other hand, leads the believer to confession of sin, to walking after the Spirit, to righteousness. Saints are delivered from condemnation by Jesus Christ. While made perfect by the Blood of the lamb, we walk in righteous repentance. When we stumble, as we will do, and we know we will, we are convicted to repentance, to confession of our sin and we are forgiven instantaneously. We have gotten and maintain the victory that was won so painfully by Jesus on the cross of Calvary. Holy Spirit conviction points to eternal salvation and the manifestation of God's glory. It points to heavenly things and eternal life.
Anyway, i could have maybe explained it better, but the point is that unless God tells you directly what everything in His word means, and i do not know many folks this happens to, then we must study it well. God Bless you.
