THE URGENCY OF THIS HOUR

On the road to Emmaus, after His resurrection, i believe there can be found wonderful examples of Jesus to follow. The story is in Luke 24:13-33. Jesus joins Cleopas and another on the road (i think it is Simon). As they were walking, they were reasoning..together (v15) and then Jesus drew near and walked with them. They did not know him.

(REASONING..it is a human mind type of trying to figure things out..)

Jesus listened to them as they recounted the events of the day. They were blind to the spiritual meaning of the events and Jesus patiently and lovingly recounted all the scriptures beginning at Moses and all the prophets, about himself. We know later that their hearts were burning within them while Jesus talked with them.

Later, as Jesus broke bread with them, their eyes were opened and they knew him. Jesus vanished, and Cleopas and his companion left at that hour to go to Jerusalem and tell the 11 that they had been with Jesus.

i am moved by this story because there is such relevance to us today. i am going through a transformation of my heart and my thinking about the souls i meet as i go. i am feeling like i am plucking unripe fruit. Sending them off like lambs to the slaughter. Thinking that a person can go from death to life in the few minutes we engage them in the street, grocery store, etc.. While i believe true salvation can happen in a moment by the power, grace and mercy of God, i know it usually does not. They leave and when they think about it they may pickup the Bible or the tract they received. They leave and go back to the same life they had before. God is all things and can work in their lives, i know that, But Jesus took time, hours on the road to open the eyes of the blind. He listened, he talked them through to their true salvation and they knew Him.

Jesus came to "seek and to save that which was lost" Luke 19:10 , and that we would know the one true God and Jesus Christ..."And this is life eternal, that they might know the only true God and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent." John 17:3

i am believing that with true revival, there is a true change in the heart of man by the grace of God and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, and the life will never be the same. That it is a change that can last generations and into eternity for whosoever will come. This cannot happen in 3-4 minutes with eyes closed and heads bowed...a mental decision is not a heart decision. The mental decision does not change the life...we see them time and time again at the altar with the same sin, same questions. i used to be one ot these. There is no brokenness, urgency to pray and know God, and a thirst for righteousness. We need to take them back to the Cross. Amen.

All people are eternity bound. Will it be to eternal life in Hell or eternal life in Heaven?

If i need to take more time with a soul than i have been, then so be it. What else is more important than leading a person to salvation. i can't think of anything, personally. i need to be in prayer more, fasting more, and seeking the face of God more. Paul said pray without ceasing, not preach without ceasing or do miracles without ceasing, but PRAY. With prayer the rest will follow because the Spirit will fall. i need the power of God to flow through me and overflow me, and that He use my hands, feet and words for His Glory. Amen.
