PESTILENCE(S)

PESTILENCE=loimos(NT Greek)=any deadly infectious malady.

"And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines and pestilences and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven." Luke 21:11

Wow. Praise God. Jesus knows how it will all play out. If we are his, then we do too. This verse refers to these things in the plural..earthquakes, pestilences, etc. The last big earthquake was in Italy, now the "swine flue"..hmmm.

So, what do we do? We press in to the one who covered us in his saving blood. We keep on with the work He left us. As in the time of Moses, leading God's people out of Egypt, we press into the one who leads us out of bondage. We press in to Jesus.

"For the Lord will pass through to smite the Egyptians, and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts the Lord will pass over the door and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you." Exodus 12:23

The blood of animal sacrifice was enough to keep the pestilence that brought death to the Egyptians, away from the Israelites. They were anxious, knowing death was right outside their doors, but they trusted God and did what he commanded them to do. They heard the moans and cries as death took its toll. Still, they waited inside as God commanded them to. Protected by the blood. They lived through the pestilence and marched out of Egypt triumphantly.

So here we are 2000 plus years later. The Economy is collapsing, earthquakes and pestilences are making their way through the land. The world is anxious, worried, scared. What do we do as believers, as followers of Christ? As overcomers?

"For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins." Matthew 26:28

God's will, will be done on earth, and in our lives, if we are partakers of the blood of Jesus. His blood covers us, washes us from our sins then we, the believers, are safe under its covering.

"And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony and they loved not their lives unto the death." Revelation 12:11

So what do we do? We do the work of the ministry he left us, until he comes again. We testify of his saving power in our lives, we do not fear those who can kill the body. We do not fear the slings and arrows, nor the pestilence that walketh in the darkness, nor the destruction that wasteth at noonday. For our Lord is our refuge, our habitation. We live and die in him and do not fear the enemy. (Psalm 91)

Jesus has reconciled us to our God. We need to live like it.

"There shall be no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling" Psalm 91:10

Do you believe? Do you trust Him? We will hear the moans and cries as death takes its toll. We will be tested and tried. Still, we dwell inside the blood of Jesus, we are protected by the blood of Jesus. We will live through the pestilence and march out of this world triumphantly. We must persevere and endure, continuing to lift up the name of Jesus and drawing men unto him, and feeding the sheep. Continue to do the work of the ministry..Amen.

"Take heed therefore unto yourselves and to all the flock over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God which he hath purchased with his own blood." Acts 20:28
