THE SWORD OF THE SPIRIT..

"And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God." Ephesians 6:17

The sword of the Spirit which is the word of God.. If we are saved by the grace of God through faith, then we must be in His word every day to carry with us (the sword of the Spirit) and wielded against the evil in our own flesh and in the world. It must fill our hearts so that we do not sin against him, Psalm 119:11. Greater responsibility comes with salvation and being servants unto death (doulos-greek) of the most high and Almighty God. Greater love, forgiveness, faith, hope, mercy, greater peace and greater works and power.

If you read Ephesians 6:10-18 God is telling us to put on his whole armour, not just some of it. He is saying to live a godly life in Him apart from the world and the evil thereof. Read his word, walk holy and righteous in him. Each day our battle is on. The battle is not against flesh and our weapons are not carnal. Our weapons are mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds, our own, winning the battle against every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God.

"For though we walk in the flesh we do not war after the flesh for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds. Casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ." 2 Corinthians 10:3-5

Nothing that comes against us can separate us from God, no weapon will prosper, nothing can penetrate our armour IF we are wearing it..

"No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and their righteousness is of me saith the Lord." Isaiah 54:17

"Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long, we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:35-39

God is telling us the spiritual warfare we face every day, against our own flesh and the outside influences of the world and in that warfare we are more than conquerors, the world has been overcome, the battle won by Jesus Christ. We must break down the walls (strongholds) we have built up like castles between us and God and make every thought pleasing unto God, so we can do his will and work as long as we draw breath on this earth. The choices we make every moment determine who we are living for. The Armour of God is life, a full defense against the prince and power of the air (Ephesians 2:2) which is Satan and his demons who would steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10) us without it.

So, every day put on truth and righteousness, the gospel of peace, faith, salvation, the word of God and prayer. There is so much in these verses and in the Word of God that God wants to share with us, to reveal to us and we miss is by not focusing on him in all we think, say and do, down to most minute detail of our lives..by not living moving and having our being in him (Acts 17:28). He wants it all. Read the word of God in the Spirit, pray and do his will..

"Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness. And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace. Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints." Ephesians 6:10-18
