FAITH
FAITH....... The moral conviction of the truthfulness of God. Romans 11:1 says this, "Now faith is the substance(confidence) of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." A trusting commitment to God. Accepting His Lordship, His absolute authority over our lives. It is a personal relationship with God that determines the priorities of ones life. Do we hear that? The priorities of ones life. It is a relationship of love built on trust and dependence on God. We receive FAITH by trusting in the saving work of JESUS. Faith is what we believe, Christianity itself, but primarily it is the relationship we have with God through what Jesus accomplished in His death and resurrection.
God's faithfulness comforts and encourages us. "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9
"God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able."
1 Corinthians 10:13
"Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it."
1 Thessalonians 5:24
So many faithful witnesses in the Old Testament pointing the way for us. In Hebrews 11 God mentions so many that BY FAITH obeyed and trusted God and it was accounted to them as righteousness. Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Joseph, Moses, Rahab, and no time to tell of (Romans 11:32) Gedeon, Barak, Samson, Jephthae, David, Samuel and the prophets.
They did not have Jesus, and we do. The author and finisher of our faith. In power and strength, with faith and looking to Jesus, we are to set aside every weight and sin that doth so easily beset us and run the race before us. (Romans 12:1)
"FAITH comes by hearing(obedience) and hearing(obedience) by the word of God" Romans 10:17
GET INTO GOD'S WORD AND GOD'S WORD WILL GET INTO YOU.
